Saitek nice for the money Keypad not so much May 27, 2007 I just recieved my new Saitek Keyboard. I like the feel and spacing of the keys. My fat fingers do not hit two keys at once. This is the third lighted keyboard I have tried this one is better than any other I have used. The back lighting is actually useful and having two levels and off is nice. The keypad is essebtially useless to me as I do not play games and would rather assign keyboard shortcuts for frequently used programs. Has a very good feel and keys are easy to push when you strike them off center. I like it and feel it was worth the 50 bucks.
Works great, but flickers in the corner of your eye.. May 13, 2007 The keyboard itself is great. The keys are soft and quiet, and the extra number pad is great for us left handed mousers who don't want to reach across the keyboard for the number hotkeys in games. The only problem with is is that the LEDs clearly pulse at 60hz, which is fine if you stare right at them, but when you are looking at your monitor, they constantly flicker in your peripheral vision, and like me, you will probably end up turning them off every time you reboot.
LEDs bad, keyboard great.
Kids had it for almost 2 years April 28, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
And it's worked well. Recommended that you bind your keypad for buys in Steam games.
Its a great work keyboard too April 26, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Though its called the Gamer's Keyboard, I'm using it mostly for work. At first I did buy it for gaming. But after typing away at it for a few minutes, i realize how easy and quickly I'm typing. I'm mildly surprised that a keyboard can make you type a bit faster. Besides for my Microsoft wave keyboard, I've always used stock keyboards that came with my computers. This keyboard is a huge improvement over those. And its profile is way better than my old wave keyboard. That one didn't fit in my keyboard drawer.
I like how simple the layout is. Too bad the wire on the game pad is too short. I'm having a hard time fitting it in my keyboard drawer with my mouse there. Other than that, good item.
I would love it if Saitek had more prebuilt profiles for games and such out there. I would love it even more if it had profiles for business aps. I'm currently trying to speed things up in excel by automating some of my keystrokes with the pad.
I'm loving the blue glow. I've been able to play games on it at night without using a desklamp because of it. I haven't had a problem with not being able to see the letters in the dark, I just need to know where the keys are, I already know WHAT they are. Besides who can find time to hunt and peck in the middle of a 3 on 3 battle in Warcraft?
Great keyboard,....if it works for your computer February 21, 2007 I wouldn't disagree with anyone here on that it is a great keyboard. There is however a common issue with the driver using Windows XP to where the keyboard will stop working if it is unplugged from the computer. The keyboard doesn't even half to be unplugged. Occasionally after a few weeks of use, the keyboard will not be "plugged in". For more info, view the common fixes section in the Saitek forum and find any posts saying "Says plug in Saitek controller, IT IS PLUGGED IN!!!"
The fix for this problem is lengthy and complicated, especially if you don't know how to resolve it. It basically involves removing all the drivers, removing the software, going into the Windows INF directory and removing the related Saitek files, searching the hard drive for all Saitek files and removing them (but not the Saitek folder), and then reinstalling driver and programming software. I've had to do this 4 times since purchasing the keyboard.
The keyboard will continue to work after the driver fails as a normal keyboard but your command pad will not. And truely without the command pad, you are shelling cash for the pretty lights. So if you aren't running XP or if you somehow will not be affected by this issue, the keyboard is above all others. But if you are affected by this issue, you will hate your keyboard and wish you had purchased something from a different company.
